Abstract:
Provided is a polarizing plate having a phase difference layer, the polarizing plate being thin and having excellent handleability and optical characteristics. This polarizing plate having a phase difference layer comprises: a polarizing plate that includes a polarizing film and a protective layer on at least one side of the polarizing film; and a phase difference layer. The polarizing film is composed of a polyvinyl alcohol resin film containing a dichroic substance, and has a thickness of 8 μm or less, a single body transmittance of 44.0% or more, and a degree of polarization of 99.50% or more. Re (550) of the phase difference layer is 100 to 190 nm and Re (450)/Re (550) is 0.8 or more and less than 1. The angle between a slow axis of the phase difference layer and an absorption axis of the polarizing film is 40° to 50°.
