Abstract:
This polarizing plate is characterized by having a λ/4 film on at least one surface, said λ/4 film having a hard coat layer on the surface. This polarizing plate is also characterized in that: the λ/4 film contains a cellulose ester that has an average acetyl group substitution degree of from 1.8 to 2.2 (inclusive) and an average butyryl group substitution degree of from 0.1 to 0.4 (inclusive); and the dimensional change rate of the polarizing plate in the direction parallel to the slow axis of the λ/4 film is from -0.5% to -0.1% (inclusive) before and after storage in a temperature environment at 90°C for 1,000 hours and subsequent gas-conditioning to an environment having a relative humidity of 55% RH at a temperature of 23°C for 24 hours.
