Abstract:
Provided is a method for producing a polarizing plate in which it is possible to raise adhesion with respect to another optical member and to improve the display characteristics of an image display device. This method for producing a polarizing plate is used to produce a polarizing plate having a polyester-based resin substrate and a polarizer that has a thickness of 10 μm or less and is laminated on one side of the polyester-based resin substrate, wherein the method includes: dyeing and extending a laminate in which a polyvinyl-alcohol-based resin layer is formed on one side of the polyester-based resin substrate, whereby the polyvinyl-alcohol-based resin layer is formed into a polarizer; and heat-treating the laminate of the polyester-based resin substrate and the polarizer; the extension including an underwater extension process in which the extension rate is a factor of 2.55 or higher, and the maximum heating temperature in the heat-treatment being 100°C or higher.
