Abstract:
Provided are: a high-quality polyvinyl alcohol-based polarizing plate which has excellent thermal durability and excellent polarization performance in a balanced manner; a liquid crystal display device which is provided with this polarizing plate; a method for producing this liquid crystal display device; and a polyvinyl alcohol-based polarizing film which is used in the polarizing plate. This polarizing plate is provided with: a polyvinyl alcohol-based polarizing film that has a glass transition temperature of 95°C or higher; and a protective film that is provided on at least one surface of the polyvinyl alcohol-based polarizing film. This liquid crystal display device is obtained by laminating this polarizing plate and an image display device. In a method for producing this liquid crystal display device according to the present invention, a laminate of an image display device and a polarizing plate having a polyvinyl alcohol-based polarizing film that has a glass transition temperature of less than 95°C is subjected to a dry treatment, so that the glass transition temperature of the polyvinyl alcohol-based polarizing film, which constitutes the polarizing plate, is controlled to 95°C or higher.
