Abstract:
The present invention pertains to: a polyacrylamide-based papermaking additive including an aldehyde-functionalized polyacrylamide which has excellent paper-strengthening effects and provides satisfactory water-filterability; and a method for producing paper by using the polyacrylamide-based papermaking additive. The polyacrylamide-based papermaking additive includes an aldehyde-functionalized polyacrylamide (A) which is a dialdehyde compound adduct of an amphoteric polyacrylamide copolymer (a) including, as polymer structural units, (meth)acrylamide, a cationic vinyl monomer, an anionic vinyl monomer, and a (meth)allyl-group-including monomer, and which is characterized by satisfying various conditions.
