This polyarylate resin is represented by general formula (1) below. In general formula (1), R1, R2, R3, and R4 each independently represent a hydrogen atom or methyl group. r and s represent an integer of 0-49. t and u represent an integer of 1-50. r+s+t+u=100. r+t=s+u. r and t may be identical to or different from each other. s and u may be identical to or different from each other. X represents a divalent group represented by formula (2A), (2B), (2C), or (2D). Y represents a divalent group represented by formula (4A), (4B), or (4C). X and Y are different from each other.
