Abstract:
The present invention provides a method that can stably produce a polyaryletherketone that has a high polymerization degree and is easily recoverable. A polyaryletherketone production method comprising a polycondensation step for performing desalting polycondensation in a reaction solution and a step for cooling the reaction mixture after completion of the desalting polycondensation is provided. During this, the polycondensation step is conducted in a hydrophilic solvent under pressure, and the polymerization temperature during the polycondensation step is set at a boiling point or higher of the hydrophilic solvent under normal pressure. Moreover, during cooling in the cooling step, the polymer content in the reaction mixture, in terms of monomers per 100 parts by mass of the hydrophilic solvent, is set to be 1-50 parts by mass, inclusive.
