Abstract:

Provided are: a polycarbonate which has adequate refractive index and Abbe number, while being comprehensively excellent in terms of heat resistance, total light transmittance and hue; and a molded body of this polycarbonate. A polycarbonate which comprises a constituent unit represented by formula (I) and a constituent unit having a hydrocarbon group that comprises a cyclic structure. In formula (I), each of R1 and R2 independently represents a hydrocarbon group; and each R3 independently represents a hydrogen atom, a group containing a heteroatom, a group containing a halogen atom, a linear alkyl group having 1-6 carbon atoms, a branched alkyl group having 3-6 carbon atoms, or a group having 6-12 carbon atoms, which includes an aryl group.
