Abstract:
The present invention relates to a polycrystalline cubic boron nitride and a method for preparing the same and, more specifically, to a polycrystalline cubic boron nitride with excellent impact resistance and abrasion resistance and a method for preparing the same. According to the present invention, a polycrystalline cubic boron nitride in which at least one type of a protrusion-shaped boride is formed on a surface of the cubic boron nitride is prepared, so that the development of cracks along surfaces of cubic boron nitride particles and a binder is suppressed to improve impact resistance and abrasion resistance, thereby manufacturing a tool with excellent lifespan. In addition, according to the present invention, a polycrystalline cubic boron nitride in which at least one of the compounds composed of two or more of BN, Ti, W, Co, Zr, and Si is contained in a binder is prepared, so that a polycrystalline cubic boron nitride having excellent binding strength between a cubic boron nitride and a binder can be produced.
