Abstract:

The present invention relates to a fabric for an airbag which includes polyester yarn, and particularly, to a polyester fabric, to a method for manufacturing same, and to an automotive airbag including the polyester fabric, wherein the polyester fabric has a tensile strength (T1) of 95 kgf/inch or more which is measured by American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standard D 5034, and a tearing strength (T2) of 6.5 kgf or more which is measured by ASTM standard D 2261 TONGUE, and the ratio of the tensile strength (T1) to the tearing strength (T2) is 4.0 to 16.5. The fabric of the present invention for an airbag provides good mechanical properties such as high tenacity and high tearing strength, as well as excellent storability, shape stability and air blocking ability by using a low-modulus polyester yarn with high strength and high elongation, and minimizes the impacts applied to a passenger, thereby safely protecting the passenger.
