Abstract:
[Problem] To provide an ink composition resin which can be used to prepare an active energy ray-curable ink composition and is capable of increasing the proportion therein of a biomass-derived component. [Solution] To use a polyester resin which is a polycondensate of an epoxy group-containing fatty acid, a polybasic acid-containing acid component and a polyvalent alcohol, said polyester resin being characterized in that the peroxide value thereof is 1 meq/kg or higher when the fatty acid is converted to triglycerides. Said resin can be prepared by using a polyester resin production method which involves causing a transesterification reaction and a polycondensation reaction to occur by heating a mixture which contains an epoxidized oil, a polybasic acid and a polyvalent alcohol, said method being characterized in that the peroxide value of the epoxidized oil is 1 meq/kg or higher.
