Abstract:
The present invention relates to a polyester yarn which can be used as fabric for an airbag, and particularly, to a polyester yarn which has an elongation of 0.8% to 2.0% when a tensile strength of 1.0 g/d is applied at room temperature, and an extended elongation range of 1.5% to 5% when a tensile strength of 8.8 g/d to the maximum tensile strength is applied, to a method for manufacturing the polyester yarn, and to a fabric for an airbag manufactured from the polyester yarn. The polyester yarn of the present invention ensures excellent mechanical properties together with a low initial modulus so as to provide excellent air blocking ability as well as good storability and shape stability when used as an airbag fabric, and minimizes impacts applied to a passenger to safely protect the passenger.
