Abstract:
The present invention provides a polyimide varnish composition which includes: a polyimide having structural units A derived from a tetracarboxylic acid or a derivative thereof, and structural units B derived from a diamine; and an organic solvent. The structural units A include structural units (A-1) derived from 4, 4'-(hexafluoroisopropylidene)diphthalic acid anhydride. At least 20 mass% of at least one organic solvent selected from lactone-based solvents is included in the total amount of the polyimide varnish composition. The polyimide varnish composition has a YI of 20 or lower, as measured at 23˚C using a cell having an optical path length of 10 mm. Also provided are: a production method for the polyimide varnish composition; and a polyimide film which is obtained from the polyimide varnish composition. The polyimide varnish composition is capable of forming a film exhibiting excellent colourless transparency.
