Abstract:
Disclosed is a polyketone fiber which is characterized in that 1-oxotrimethylene represented by formula (1) makes up 97% or more of repeating units contained in the polyketone fiber. The polyketone fiber is also characterized in that, when a fiber cross-section taken in a direction orthogonal to the axis of the polyketone fiber is observed on a transmission electron microscope using ruthenium tetraoxide as an electron beam staining agent, the fiber cross-section has a region which is continuously stained with ruthenium tetraoxide from the surface of the polyketone fiber toward to the interior of the polyketone fiber, wherein the ratio of the thickness of the stained region in the fiber cross-section (i.e., the distance that goes from the fiber surface toward the interior of the fiber) to the single fiber fineness (the outer diameter) of the polyketone fiber is 0.002:1 to 0.2:1. Also disclosed is a fiber-reinforced composite material comprising the polyketone fiber as a reinforcing fiber and a matrix agent.
