Abstract:
Provided are a polymer material whereby various structure can be formed, the polymer material having excellent toughness and strength, and a method for manufacturing the polymer material. The polymer material has constituent units represented by the general formula -R1-RH (where R1 represents NH or O, and RH represents a host group) in the polymer chain thereof, the host group being a univalent group in which one hydrogen atom or hydroxyl group is removed from a cyclodextrin derivative, and the cyclodextrin derivative having a structure in which the hydrogen atom of at least one hydroxyl group of the cyclodextrin is substituted with at least one group selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbon groups, acyl groups, and -CONHR (where R is a methyl group or an ethyl group).
