Abstract:
Disclosed is a novel polymer having heat resistance and functionality. Also disclosed is a method for easily synthesizing such a polymer while controlling physical properties thereof widely. Specifically disclosed is a polymer characterized by having an alicyclic hydrocarbon unit in an aromatic ring in a polystyrene or styrene copolymer. Also specifically disclosed is a method for producing a polymer, which is characterized by introducing an alicyclic hydrocarbon unit into an aromatic ring of a polystyrene or styrene copolymer in the presence of a protonic acid catalyst.
