Abstract:
A novel polymer-supported Lewis acid catalyst which has high activity in reactions in an aqueous medium, can be easily recovered, and is highly reusable. The catalyst comprises a polymer film and Lewis acid groups represented by general formula (I) MX¿n?, wherein M represents a polyvalent element; X represents an anionic group, and n is an integer corresponding to the valence of M bonded to and supported on the film through SO¿3? or SO¿4? groups.
