Abstract:
The present invention provides: a compound represented by formula (i), a liquid crystal composition using said compound, and a liquid crystal display device using said liquid crystal composition. The compound represented by formula (i) has a partial structure Ki1 represented by formulae (K-1)-(K-17), and has a ring B having at least two P-Sp-groups. Thus, when used in a liquid crystal composition, the compound is adsorbed onto a substrate holding the liquid crystal composition (liquid crystal layer), and can retain liquid crystal molecules in a state of being vertically oriented without the provision of a PI layer, and can also improve orientation stability and ensure low-temperature preservability.
