Title:
POLYMERS HAVING ISOINDOLE STRUCTURE AND PROCESS FOR THEIR PREPARATION
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1987/003607
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Polymers having an isoindole structure represented by general formula (Ia) and/or (Ib), (wherein R1, R2 and R3 each independently represents hydrogen or a hydrocarbyl group containing 1 to 5 carbon atoms, X- represents an electrolyte anion, y represents a number of 0.01 to 1 showing the proportion of the anion per mol of the monomer, and n represents a number of 5 to 500 showing the degree of polymerization) show high electroconductivity by doping, and are highly stable in an oxidized state. The polymers are obtained by (1) electrochemically polymerizing an isoindole compound of general formula (IIa) or (IIb), (wherein R1, R2 and R3 are the same as defined above) in solvent in the presence of an electrolyte or (2) conducting oxidative polymerization in a solvent with the aid of an oxidant.
