Abstract:
A flame retardant obtained by combining a flame-retardant polyphosphoric acid compound with a silicone resin. The silicone resin is applied so as to coat particles of the polyphosphoric acid compound. The polyphosphoric acid compound preferably is ammonium polyphosphate having a weight-average degree of polymerization of 20-2,000. When the flame retardant is compounded with a binder resin to obtain a flame-retardant resin composition and this composition is applied to fibers, then a flame-retardant textile product friendly to the environment can be stably obtained.
