Abstract:
Provided is a polythiol compound manufacturing method including: obtaining a polyol compound represented by formula (1) by reacting 2-mercaptoethanol with 1.00-1.25 equivalent amount of epihalohydrin relative to 2-mercaptoethanol; and, subsequent to a step that includes obtaining a polyol compound represented by formula (2) by reacting the polyol compound represented by formula (1) with 1.04-1.25 equivalent amount of an alkali metal sulfide relative to the aforementioned 2-mercaptoethanol, obtaining one or more types of polythiol compounds selected from a group including a polythiol compound represented by formula (3), a polythiol compound represented by formula (4), and a polythiol compound represented by formula (5).
