Abstract:
As a poly(vinyl alcohol)-based film for producing a polarizing film, from which it is possible to produce a polarizing film which can reduce shrinkage in the width direction during production of the polarizing film, that is, a polarizing film having a high width yield, the present invention provides a poly(vinyl alcohol)-based film which has a thickness of 5-75 μm, a width of 2 m or more and a length of 2 km or more and which is characterized in that the degree of swelling X (%) in the width direction after being immersed for 5 minutes in water at 23.5ºC is such that 120 ≤ X ≤ 140, and the film width yield W (%), as determined by carrying out a polarizing film production test, is such that W ≥ 43.
