Abstract:
The purpose of the invention is to provide a polyvinyl alcohol-based resin in which coloring is suppressed, and a dispersing agent and a dispersing agent for suspension polymerization that use said polyvinyl alcohol-based resin. The absorbance (X) at 320 nm in an ultraviolet absorption spectrum when this polyvinyl alcohol-based resin is made into a 0.1 wt% aqueous solution is 0.1 or greater; and, after a mixed aqueous solution obtained by mixing 10 parts by weight of a 3.0 wt% aqueous solution of bromine to 100 parts by weight of a 1.0 wt% aqueous solution of said polyvinyl alcohol-based resin has been subjected to a bromine treatment by being allowed to stand for 24 hours, the yellow index value of said mixed aqueous solution is 5 or less.
