Title:
POLYVINYL ALCOHOL AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING POLYVINYL ALCOHOL
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2019/013267
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A polyvinyl alcohol which has a number average molecular weight (Mn) of 4,400 to 440,000, a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of 1.05 to 1.70 and a degree of saponification of 80 to 99.99 mol%, and has a terminal group represented by formula (I), wherein the molar ratio (X) of the terminal group relative to the whole amount of all of monomer units and the number average molecular weight (Mn) satisfy the requirement represented by formula (1). The polyvinyl alcohol has a narrow molecular weight distribution, a large number average molecular weight and good hue. (In the formula, R1 represents an aromatic group which has 6 to 20 carbon atoms and may have a substituent; and R2 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, or an aromatic group which has 6 to 20 carbon atoms and may have a substituent.) X·Mn/44 ≥ 0.5 (1)
