Abstract:
Provided is a polyvinyl alcohol resin in which, as a polymer component, substantially only a polyvinyl alcohol is contained, wherein the absorbance Abs320 of a 0.1 mass% aqueous solution of the polyvinyl alcohol resin when optical path length is 10 mm and wavelength is 320 nm is not less than 0.09, the ratio (Abs320/Abs370) of the absorbance Abs320 to the absorbance Abs370 of a 0.1 mass% aqueous solution of the polyvinyl alcohol resin when optical path length is 10 mm and wavelength is 370 nm is not greater than 4.9, and the combined content of bivalent metallic elements and trivalent metallic elements is less than 30 μmol/g.
