The present invention resolves the problem of the conventional popcorn production apparatus that the quality of the popcorn is affected by the skills of the operator operating the apparatus and the operating condition of the apparatus and that popcorn of stable quality cannot be provided. In the popcorn production apparatus of the invention, at least a heating mechanism (heating body) that heats the pan into which the popcorn raw material is loaded, an oil supply mechanism (2Cc) that supplies oil into the pan, and a stirring mechanism (stirring rod and a drive unit 3Bb that drives the stirring rod) that stirs the popcorn raw material in the pan are provided with a heating sensor, an oil supply sensor, and a drive sensor, respectively, and a control unit (11) optimally controls the operation of the heating mechanism (heating body), the oil supply mechanism (2Cc), and the stirring mechanism (drive unit 3Bb) according to the amount of the popcorn raw material and the popcorn production apparatus notifies, when abnormal operations are detected by the respective sensors, of the abnormal operations of the heating mechanism (heating body), the oil supply mechanism (2Cc), and the stirring mechanism (drive unit 3Bb).
