Abstract:
A porous electrically conductive member for use in water electrolysis, which comprises a porous electrically conductive body part that comprises a hydrophilized electrode active material and a binder material and a current collector part that is in contact with the surface of the porous electrically conductive body part or is included in the porous electrically conductive body part, said porous electrically conductive member being characterized in that the binder material is composed of a hydrophobic material; and a functional water generator which is equipped with the porous electrically conductive member for use in water electrolysis as an electrode for absorbing/desorbing metal ions in a non-diaphragm-type one-part electrolytic cell. It becomes possible to provide a porous electrically conductive member for use in water electrolysis, in which a hydrophobic binder material that has been believed previously as being improper for use in water electrolysis is used, and which enables the improvement in the efficiency of electrolysis.
