Abstract:
A three-layered porous polyimide membrane which comprises two surface layers (a) and (b) and a macrovoid layer sandwiched therebetween. The macrovoid layer has: partition walls that are bonded to the surface layers (a) and (b); and multiple macrovoids that are surrounded by the partition walls and the surface layers (a) and (b) and that have a mean pore diameter of 10 to 500μm in the plane direction of the membrane. The partition walls of the macrovoid layer are 0.1 to 50μm in thickness, and have multiple pores having a mean pore diameter of 0.01 to 50μm. The surface layers (a) and (b) are 0.1 to 50μm in thickness, and at least one of the surface layers (a) and (b) has multiple pores having a mean pore diameter of more than 5 to 200μm, while the other surface layer has multiple pores having a mean pore diameter of 0.01 to 200μm. The pores in the partition walls of the macrovoid layer and in the surface layers (a) and (b) interconnect with each other and further with the macrovoids. The porous polyimide membrane has a total membrane thickness of 5 to 500μm and a porosity of 60 to 95%.
