Title:
POROUS SEPARATOR FOR FUEL CELLS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2013/047485
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A porous separator for fuel cells, which is obtained by molding a composition that contains a carbon material powder and a resin component, and which is characterized in that: the resin component contains an epoxy resin and a curing agent therefor; the epoxy resin is a phenolic novolac epoxy resin that has an ICI viscosity at 150˚C of 0.3-0.9 Pa·s and an epoxy equivalent weight of 175-195 g/eq; the curing agent is a novolac phenol resin that has a hydroxyl equivalent weight of 103-106 g/eq; the resin component is contained in an amount of 10-13 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the carbon material powder; and the porous separator for fuel cells has a porosity of 16-25% by volume, a water absorption time of 50 seconds or less and a compressive strength of 50-80 MPa. This separator is porous and thus has good water absorption and good water permeability, and still has high compressive strength and excellent compressive strength retention ratio.
