Abstract:
A portable article of furniture comprises a chair/sunbed (10') which is formed from self-supporting sheet material and is adapted to be collapsible so as to form a bag. The chair/sunbed (10') includes a strip of several panels (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) arranged side-by-side in a row. The first and second panels (1, 2) are foldable in a position in which they are inclined at an acute angle relative to one another so as to form an inverted V like shape which serves as a head or upper body rest when the chair/sunbed (10') is placed on a supporting floor or surface (20) with the third panel (3) flat on the surface for a person to sit or lie on. Pairs of tabs (62) extending beyond the second panel (2) are inserted into slots (70) associated with the first panel (1) in order to retain the panels in the shape of the head/upper body rest. The portable article of furniture may also be a parasol or a table formed from sheet material and adapted to be collapsible to form a portable, compact structure.
