A portable device control method for altering the setting of a portable device in which an SIM card and a payment IC card can be loaded. The method comprises a step (ST1) of receiving a request to alter the setting of a portable device and confirming the content of the alteration, a mail-address specifying step (ST4) of specifying the mail address of the portable device the setting of which is requested to alter, and a mail-creating step (ST5) of creating a setting alteration e-mail. The e-mail created at the mail-creating step is sent to the mail address specified by the mail-address specifying step (ST6) so as to alter the setting of the portable device.
