Abstract:
Provided is a portable information processing terminal capable of detecting with high precision an instance in which detecting an obstacle is necessary for a user, and of minimizing wasteful consumption of electric power. Provided are: an advancing-direction-detecting unit (105) for detecting the moving direction of a portable information processing terminal (100); a display-surface-direction-detecting unit (104) for detecting whether the display surface of a display unit (107) is facing the direction of a user; an obstacle-detecting unit (106) for determining that the user is using the portable information processing terminal (100) while moving, and starting detection of an obstacle in the moving direction, when it is detected that there is movement and the display surface is facing the direction of the user; and a controller (120) for notifying the user that there is an obstacle in the moving direction, when an obstacle is detected in the moving direction.
