Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a portable terminal device in which battery consumption can be minimized without requiring effort on the part of the user. [Solution] A portable telephone (1) is provided with: a communication unit (19); and a control unit (11) for performing background communication through the communication unit (19) using an application. The control unit (11) restricts background communication on the basis of the history of launching the application in the foreground. The control unit (11) includes: a determination unit (21) for determining, for each application, whether or not background communication is unnecessary on the basis of the history of launching the application in the foreground; and a setting switching unit (22) for switching, in relation to applications for which background communication has been determined to be unnecessary, the communication setting from a first setting in which the background communication is permitted to a second setting in which the background communication is restricted.
