Abstract:

　Provided is a POS terminal device capable of improving the recognition rate in a process for recognizing products without relying on the surrounding environment. A POS terminal device (1) has a brightness measurement unit (2), an irradiation unit (4), an image-capturing unit (6), and a recognition unit (8). The brightness measurement unit (2) measures the brightness of the environmental light around the POS terminal device (1). The irradiation unit (4) irradiates a product with light that has been adjusted according to the brightness of the environmental light measured by the brightness measurement unit (2). The image-capturing unit (6) captures the product that has been irradiated with light by the irradiation unit (4) and generates an image. The recognition processing unit (8) performs recognition on the product on the basis of the image captured and generated by the image-capturing unit (6).
