Abstract:
Provided is a position detection device that makes it possible to accurately acquire an absolute value. Specifically, an absolute track 23 of a magnetic scale 2 is provided with a first track 24 having an absolute pattern 24a and a second track having a magnetization pattern 25a arranged opposite to the absolute pattern 24a. An absolute value output unit 34 is provided with: a first signal output unit 41 that reads the absolute pattern 24a of the first track 24 and outputs a first signal E1; and a second signal output unit 42 that reads the magnetization pattern 25a of the second track 25 and outputs a second signal E2. An absolute value ABS is output on the basis of a differential signal D of the first signal E1 and the second signal E2.
