Abstract:
Provided is a position detection device that makes it possible to reduce the influence of temperature on a signal output from a magnetoresistive element when a magnetic scale is read. Specifically, a magnetic encoder device 1 (the position detection device) comprises a magnetic scale 2 and a magnetic sensor 3 that detects the position of the magnetic scale 2. The magnetic sensor 3 is provided with: a sensor substrate 12; a first magnetoresistive element 45 for magnetic field detection and a second magnetoresistive element 46 for magnetic field detection that read the magnetic scale 2 toward a magnetosensitive direction in a relative movement direction Z on the sensor substrate 12 and output a signal; and a first magnetoresistive element 51 for temperature correction and a second magnetoresistive element 52 for temperature correction that face the magnetosensitive direction in an orthogonal direction Y orthogonal to the relative movement direction Z on the sensor substrate 12. The magnetic sensor 3 corrects a differential signal D from the magnetoresistive elements 45, 46 for magnetic field detection by a differential signal (a midpoint voltage T for temperature correction) from the magnetoresistive elements 51, 52 for temperature correction.
