Abstract:
Provided is a position detection sensor capable of greater linearity of precision in detecting the pointing position of a stylus, and more appropriate implementation of a fine-grained pointing input difficult to accomplish with a finger. Provided is a transparent sensor (12) wherein a plurality of x electrodes arrayed in a first direction and a plurality of y electrodes arrayed in a second direction intersecting the first direction are formed in a vertical stack. The plurality of x electrodes and the plurality of y electrodes are formed in a mesh shape in such a way as to vary the array direction widths and/or the mesh densities. Greater precision in detecting the pointing position of the stylus is achieved by enabling sufficient coupling capacitance to be secured between the stylus and an electrode positioned on the far side, as viewed from an operating face contacted by the stylus, and flattening the characteristics of the coupling capacitance.
