Abstract:
A position detection system 1 comprises: a capsule endoscope 10 internally provided with a magnetic field generation unit to generate a magnetic field for position detection; a plurality of detection coils Cn that detect the magnetic field for position detection and output a detection signal; a metal plate 25 that is disposed in a range to cover the opening faces of the plurality of detection coils Cn on the side opposite to the region subject to detection for the capsule endoscope 10 with respect to the plurality of detection coils Cn and that can generate a magnetic field by way of the action of the magnetic field for position detection; and a calculation device 40. The calculation device 40 comprises a magnetic field correction unit that corrects measurement values for the plurality of detection signals output from each of the plurality of detection coils Cn using a magnetic field component generated by the metal plate 25, and a position calculation unit that calculates at least one of the position and the direction of the capsule endoscope 10 using the measurement values for the plurality of detection signals corrected by the magnetic field correction unit. Thus, it is possible to provide a position detection system and the like that can detect position with a high degree of precision even when a metal member is used in the position detection system.
