Abstract:
A position detection system (150) comprising: two magnet arrays (510, 520) which are formed by a plurality of magnets (511-514, 521-524) arranged such that an array pattern constituting one cycle is periodically repeated in the detection direction, and in which the magnets of the magnet array (510) and the magnets of the magnet array (520) face each other such that surfaces with different polarities are mutually facing at specific positions in the detection direction; a magnetic sensor (600) which is disposed between the two magnet arrays, and in which the relative position of said magnetic sensor to the two magnet arrays can change in the X-axis direction; and a determination unit (141) which, on the basis of a detected value from the magnetic sensor, determines the position of the magnetic sensor relative to the two magnet arrays in a prescribed direction.
