Abstract:
This position determination system determines the position of a mobile terminal in relation to a vehicle by wirelessly communicating with the mobile terminal. The position determination system comprises: a vehicle-interior communication device (13, 13A-13D) that is installed in the interior of a vehicle, receives a wireless signal transmitted from a mobile terminal, and detects the reception intensity of the received wireless signal; a position determination unit (F6) for determining whether the mobile terminal is in the vehicle interior; an absorbing material amount estimation unit (F4) for estimating the amount of material in the vehicle interior that is capable of absorbing radio waves in a frequency band allocated for wireless communication; and a threshold adjustment unit (F5) for adjusting a vehicle interior determination value that is a threshold that the position determination unit uses to determine whether the mobile terminal is in the vehicle interior. The position determination unit determines that the mobile terminal is in the vehicle interior if an interior device intensity is greater than or equal to the vehicle interior determination value that has been adjusted by the threshold adjustment unit.
