Provided are a positioning method and a positioning apparatus (10). The positioning apparatus (10) comprises an emitter (110), a receiver (120), a determining module (140), and a calculating module (150). The emitter (110) emits light beams to a to-be positioned point (O) and an auxiliary positioning point (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H). Then, the receiver (120) receives reflected light beams of the emitted light beams through the to-be positioned point (O) and the auxiliary positioning point (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H). The, the determining module (140) judges whether the receiver (120) receives the reflected light beam reflected by the to-be positioned point (O). Finally, the calculating module (150) determines height information of the to-be positioned point (O) according to a judging result and the reflected light beams reflected by the to-be positioned point (O) and the auxiliary positioning point (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H). In this manner, when the reflected light beam reflected by the to-be-positioned point (O) cannot be received, the height information of the to-be positioned point (O) is determined according to the reflected light beam reflected by the auxiliary positioning point (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H), thereby improving the success rate of the positioning.
