A positioning method and apparatus. The positioning method comprises: obtaining navigation path information (S100); obtaining image information and geographic position information of a first characteristic marker from a map of a positioning device, the first characteristic marker being located in a first preset range using the position device as a center, and a satellite positioning precision at a position indicated by the geographic position information of the first characteristic marker being less than a first preset threshold (S101); obtaining image information of a surrounding object (S102); if the image information of the surrounding object matches the image information of the first characteristic marker, determining, according to a visual positioning algorithm, relative position information of the positioning device using the first characteristic marker as an origin of coordinates (S103, S104); and determining first position information of the positioning device in a geographic coordinate system according to the geographic position information of the first characteristic marker and the relative position information (S105).
