Abstract:
A positioning method capable of performing positioning of an optical element which includes a light source in a light-assisted magnetic head easily and with high accuracy and low cost, a light source unit with an optical element which has been positioned using such a positioning method, and a light-assisted magnetic head are provided. This positioning method for an optical element is a method for positioning at least one optical element to a base, wherein, in order to position the optical element having a concave cylindrical surface, a projection comprising a convex arc shape such that at least one cross-section is provided with the same radius of curvature as the radius of curvature of the cylindrical surface is provided upon the base, and the method has a step for performing positioning of the optical element which has the concave cylindrical surface by abutting the concave cylindrical surface of the optical element which has the concave cylindrical surface to the surface that includes the arc shape of the projection.
