Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a positive electrode for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery that can suppress reductions in discharge capacity and reductions in discharge voltage even in cases such as continuous charging at high temperatures and can also suppress reductions in discharge voltage and reductions in energy density in charging and discharging thereafter. The purpose is also to provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery using this positive electrode. The positive electrode for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is characterized by containing a positive electrode active material, which is formed from a mixture of lithium cobaltate (21) to which an erbium compound (22) adheres to part of the surface, and lithium nickel cobalt manganese oxide and also containing a binder. The positive electrode for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is also characterized by the proportion of the lithium nickel cobalt manganese oxide being 1 - 50% by mass of the total amount of the positive electrode active material.
