Title:
POWDERY COATING CONTAINING SCALLOP SHELL POWDER AND AQUEOUS COATING CONTAINING SCALLOP SHELL POWDER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2001/060934
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A powdery coating which contains a scallop shell powder, which is obtained by grinding scallop shells containing calcium carbonate having a hexagonal calcite structure and baking, and a binder component; and an aqueous coating wherein this powdery coating is mixed with water to thereby dissolve a part of the above-described scallop shell powder in the water. When such a coating is applied to the surface of ceiling, wall, floor, furniture, etc., an incombustible film strongly adhering to the surface can be formed and thus the emission of toxic gases into the living space can be prevented. Further, the proliferation of bacteria and molds can be inhibited thereby and thus the onset of physical disorders and diseases can be prevented. Furthermore, such a coating exerts a deodorant effect and has such a high safety as being not dangerous but rather nutritionally effective from the viewpoint of supplying calcium even if it is put into the mouth. Since natural or farmed scallop shells being rich in calcium and less expensive, which have been disposed as waste after taking out the contents for edible use, are efficiently utilized, moreover, these coatings can be easily produced at a low cost and exert practically excellent effects.
