Abstract:
The present invention is provided with the following: a vehicle frame atop which a load can be placed; a drive wheel provided to the vehicle frame; an operation handle whereby a worker can input a drive force to the vehicle frame; a torque sensor for detecting a drive torque acting on the vehicle frame due to the operation handle being operated by pressing force; an electric motor for applying to the drive wheel an assist force that is in accordance with the drive torque detected by the torque sensor; and a controller for calculating the assist force being applied to the drive wheel and for supplying to the electric motor an electrical current that is in accordance with the assist force. The controller has a plurality of modes in which the characteristics of changes in magnitude of the electrical current that is in accordance with the drive torque differ, and the electrical current can be supplied to the electric motor by switching the modes.
