Provided is a low-cost power conversion apparatus such that regulations for harmonics can be met, and DC voltage can be stepped up. To achieve the above-mentioned objectives, the ON intervals of bidirectional current-supplying switches for each of the phases are set so as to be longer during the period around the zero-crossing of the voltage for the respective phase (phase voltage), whereby the regulations for harmonics are met. Further, by timely adjustment of the ON intervals of the bidirectional current-supplying switches according to the running state of the rotating-machine in the other periods, the DC voltage can be controlled to be optimal for the running state of a rotating-machine, even when there is no power-supply current detecting means.
