Abstract:
Provided is a power conversion device provided with a power converter, a DC capacitor, a voltage detector, a rectifier element, a magnetic contactor, and a control circuit. The power converter has a pair of DC terminals connected to a DC power supply and a plurality of AC terminals connected to an AC power system and converts a DC power input from the DC power supply to an AC power to supply the AC power to the power system. The DC capacitor is connected between the pair of DC terminals. The voltage detector detects the voltage value across the DC capacitor. The rectifier element is provided between the DC capacitor and the DC power supply and prevents power from reversely flowing from the power converter and the DC capacitor to the DC power supply. The magnetic contactor is connected in parallel with the rectifier element. The control circuit controls the operations of the power converter and the magnetic contactor. The control circuit turns on the magnetic contactor to supply an active power from the power converter to the power system when the voltage value across the DC capacitor detected by the voltage detector is a predetermined value or more, and turns off the magnetic contactor to supply a reactive power from the power converter to the power system when the voltage value across the DC capacitor is less than the predetermined value. This provides, with a simple and highly reliable configuration, a power conversion device capable of preventing power from reversely flowing to a DC power supply and a method for operating the power conversion device.
