Abstract:
This power conversion device for vehicles converts single-phase AC power to DC power and comprises: a single-phase two-level converter; a single-phase three-level converter; a voltage detection unit; and a control unit. The voltage detection unit detects the voltage value for a capacitor provided in the single-phase two-level converter and the voltage values for two capacitors serially connected in the single-phase three-level converter. The control unit controls a phase indicating the switching timing for controllable switching in the single-phase three-level converter, whereby the output voltage of the single-phase three-level converter can be adjusted in five stages, within the output cycle of the single-phase three-level converter, said control being performed on the basis of the voltage value for the capacitor provided in the single-phase two-level converter and the voltage values for the two capacitors serially connected in the single-phase three-level converter, as detected by the voltage detection unit.
