Abstract:
Provided is a power conversion device having a high-current capability. The power conversion device has an inverter (3) for converting a DC output to an AC voltage of a predetermined frequency and a high-voltage generating unit (4) for receiving the output from the output terminal of the inverter and boosting to a desired DC high-voltage. The transformer of the high-voltage generating unit (4) has a plurality of primary windings, which are connected to the output terminal of the inverter in parallel with each other. This makes it possible to supply a large current because current can be supplied to each of the primary windings connected in parallel. The current flowing through each of the primary windings is detected by current sensors (17, 6). A control unit (22) determines from the outputs of the current sensors that an abnormality occurs, when current does not flow through any of the primary windings.
